What is the CCAPS-34 Assessment?

What is the CCAPS-34?

The CCAPS-34 is a standardized questionnaire widely used in college counseling and mental health settings. The CCAPS-34 helps clinicians understand your mental health concerns across areas such as anxiety, depression, academic distress, and social functioning. The questionnaire includes 34 items and generally takes 2-3 minutes to complete.

Your participation is entirely voluntary. You may decline to take the assessment, stop at any time, or choose not to answer specific items. Your decision will not affect your access to counseling services or any other services provided through BetterMynd or your institution.

How do I access the CCAPS-34 in BetterMynd?

You will be invited to fill out a CCAPS-34 assessment 24 hours in advance of a scheduled, confirmed teletherapy session on the BetterMynd platform. From your account dashboard, click the “Take Pre-session Assessment” button to get started.

BetterMynd will send out an initial email invitation to fill out the CCAPS-34 24 hours in advance of a scheduled session. If your account has SMS alerts enabled, we will also send a second notification via text 1 hour ahead of your session start time.

How are my responses used?

Your responses may be used to assist your counselor in understanding your concerns, planning treatment, and/or track changes over time. This is not intended to serve as an immediate alert of risk. Rather, your counselor will review the assessment responses with you during your session. All clinical decisions, including the interpretation of your assessment results and any treatment recommendations, are the sole responsibility of your counselor or other licensed provider.

Only authorized clinical staff will have access to your individual results. Identifying information will never be shared except when required by law. De-identified aggregate data may be used for program evaluation.
